"The Eagle has Landed" at my table!

Neil Alden Armstrong was an American astronaut, engineer, and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor.
August 1930 to 2012
It was 2011, the St. Louis Cardinals played the Philadelphia Phillies, in St. Louis. After the game Dinner at Tony’s.
“Most St. Louisans are asked to name the truly greatest restaurants of our town, Tony’s is most always, and justifiably, at the very top of the list. Even those with access to the finest private clubs generally give the nod to Tony’s as the epitome of fine dining in the Mound City.” *www.tonysstlouis.com
Joining me for dinner, Hall of Famers Tony LaRussa and Red Schoendienst, should be HOFer Dave Duncan, our friend Jim Hays and the first person to walk on the moon, icon Neil Armstrong. What a combination at great restaurant!
What a thrill to have dinner with a living icon. It is almost an out of this world feeling. Sitting across from Neil listening to him tell his account of landing on the moon and some of the specifics it was an exceptional feeling, unprecedented. An ATC from Silver Spring, Maryland; Edith and Harold’s only son; who made it to the Big Leagues, was breaking bread with Neil Armstrong.
One person at our table asked Neil “Do you go out at night, look up at the sky, look up at the moon and say, "Been there, done that".” He humbly answered “Yes”.
As we were leaving a very memorable dinner, I asked him “Did anyone tonight ask you a question that you have never heard?” Thinking one of my questions would have made the list. Like what was the weather there or what time did you land? He replied, "No, I have been asked those same questions over and over. The reason there was not a new question there was not an 11 or 12-year-old at the table.”
I eat out breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the most amazing people.
Bon Appetite, Uncle Barry

Anything at Tony’s is worth the visit! I always had them make me a Chopped Italian Salad with Shrimp; the Swordfish was great as well. Tony LaRussa would have one of the Bommarito's Chefs make him a vegetarian pasta dish with spinach or broccoli.
