Nick Price, Zimbabwean Professional Golfer

For You Golfers….
One day back in 2016, I was invited to play golf with Nick Price and two other Golf Pros. Nick, who has been a good friend for a while, cordially asked if I desired to be in the skins game. I, of course, said “yes”.
Come to the 17th hole and it is a par 3. I hit my tee shot 12 feet from the hole and the 3 other pros miss the green, imagine that I am the only one on the green, 12 feet from birdie and double skins with carryover. I am about to clean up.
Well two of the pros put their chip shots in less than a foot away so they got their part, but it is not about to beat this birdie I am about to drop in. Putt was going right in, hit the hole on the right side and just lipped out. A sympathetic awe in unison from the 3 pros as the awe turned to laughter, knowing how much that put meant to me and how close I came. Someone birdied the 18th hole and as we were going into the clubhouse Nick informed me I owed 8 skins.
Now what did I forget to ask as we commenced the round? Correct, how much is each skin worth?
“Do you know what we play for and how much for a skin?” Nick asked me.
I of course, thinking the worst, $20-$100 per skin. Nick smiles “We play for $1.” I had to come up with $8.00.
What a fun round with a former Three Time Major Winner and Number One Player in the World, in the early nineties.
We played at his McArthur Golf Club Hobe Sound, Florida. A spectacular course! So much fun to play with not only one of the best golfers that ever played, but a friend and a HOF person.
No better guy than Nick Price. Not just my opinion, ask anyone who has ever met him!
